Oooh funny guy - do you keep in touch? Sounds like a prime candidate for a lifetime subscription to Hello Kitty fan mag

And i'm not too surprised that you got policed by the MP's - from the tales I've heard of some of the camps and their zealous overcontrol.

@Pax
He had no choice; I was the one with the special driver's license to drive a POV in Kuwait, lol. That wasn't the only driving misadventure he and I had together.

We visited LSA Anaconda once and I borrowed a humvee to get around, but I didn't have a military DL or a properly dispatched vehicle. We got pulled over by the MPs. I shit you not, pulled over in Iraq - but then LSA Anaconda was like MacDill Air Force Base what with the Burger Kings, PXs and Subways. Anyway, this same NCO acted like he didn't know who I was and told the MPs I had taken him hostage - not funny! The MP was cool, though, and realizing we weren't from Anaconda he let me go.

@Coffeypot
You and I think alot alike, I can tell from your posts on your blog. Mixed feelings is exactly how I feel, and I live in Florida so you probably see where I'm coming from on that. But I get so pulled into this tragedy. I wish I could help, but tossing a few coins just eases my conscious. A friend of mine took off and joined the relief efforts, which was a real shock to us, honestly. But he's a good guy. I just hope he doesn't get hacked to death for his efforts. Another friend of mine was in the USMC and spent time in Haiti. He said those guys down there will machete fight in the streets, like pirates going at it. Pirates, I say!

Great story, Dak. And Funny Now.

I have mixed feelings over Haiti. A nation that hates us and is part of France. But suffering is suffering and I jsut hope the aid we send will win some hearts and minds.

Don't be gone so long. You are a good writer.

@Coffeypot
Did I mention I am a major procastinator? Wasn't it Ben Franklin who said "Never do today what you can push off until tomorrow," or something like that? :D I'm sorry, "I've been busy" is such a lame excuse."

@Clew
Avatar was pretty incredible to watch, and my son absolutely loved it. I had to buy him the Avatar game and some Avatar action figures, though. We also splurged on a receiver and Blu-ray player, and I finally got around to getting a Netflix subscription. The difference between Blu-ray and standard definition is incredible. We're big movie watchers so the money we spent is worth it. Tomorrow night is G.I. Joe night (although why they used the "P" word in a kid's movie is beyond me).
